As our regular readers and blog pals know, winter in our part of the world lasted beary, beary long this year. So we're only now getting to some serious gardening, and today is Memorial Day in the US.
We got some plants at our local farmers' market, and today we went to a big greenhouse to find some more. "Hey, thar was no houz and it wazunt green!" says Ben. Jerry explains that at greenhouse is a big place that sells all kinds of plants and gardening equipment.
There was a special display of a tiny gnome garden; the features were even smaller than Jerry and Ben!

We said goodbye to the gnome village, and loaded our plants into the car.
Jerry was very careful handling the marigolds, "You hav to not krush thum, they ar veree delikut."
"Thiz is a bazeel plant" instructs Jerry, "itz gud in salads and chopud wif tomatos."
Ben inspects the new rosemary plant. We bring in the rosemary plants during the winter, but they eventually get too big after a few years. "Why iz it nameed Rosemary" asks Ben, "why not Alice or Caroline?"
Ben then greeted a garden friend, the iron white rabbit who lives inside during the winter. The rabbit looks very good next to the red geraniums.
Our tarragon plant comes back every year. "Terry-gone is yummee chopud over aspareegus" notes Jerry.
With the gardening mostly done, Ben takes a moment to pose with the beautiful and fragrant lilacs. "They smel so beary gud!" says Ben. Do you do any gardening or grow flowers or herbs in pots?
Oooohhh... gardening!!! Jerry looks beary professional in his gardening apron and hat. And basil is a super yummy plant with caprese salad (yummmmmmmm). Cute gnome garden too... there is talk of creating a fairy garden at our new place... when we get there! And I have to say lilacs are the super smelliest flower - my favourite. I can just bury my face in them and inhale for hours... although Mama says a bee might fly up my nose. But I think my nose is too small for that... and the bee would lead me to honey!
ReplyDeleteThis gnome garden is beautiful :-) Your garden must be also very lovely with all the colourful flowers and beary good smelling herbs. We love Bazeel and Rosemary with potatoes and chicken. On our balcony we have Tagetes too in different colours. We bought a little package with seeds and the little green grew up fast in our room before planting. Greetings from Germany
