Sculptures and a Yummy Cold Treat

We took our guest and good pal Sandy to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

The spoon and giant cherry (non edible) is kind of new symbol of the city.

It was a bit cloudy when we visited, but Sandy still looks sharp posing with the big spoon.

There are lots of walking paths...

...with sculptures everywhere! Here is a famous one, Reclining Mother and Child, by artist Henry Moore.

There were some modern sculptures..we're not sure what this one means exactly...

...and some very recognizable ones, like this Love sculpture; the image was also popular on stamps here in the US. It sure was a fun sculpture to climb on and explore.

Overall, it was a fun afternoon!   ...but, such exploring sure does make little bears terribly hungry...

...so once home, Ben made homemade strawberry ice cream with the strawberries we purchased at the farmers market. It was soooo good!

Here's Ben's recipe:

Stuff to buy
12 ounces fresh strawberries, hulled
3/4 cup white sugar (we only used 1/2 cup)
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

Stuff to do
Mash strawberries. Add cream, milk, vanilla extract, and salt to the strawberry mixture. Pour strawberry mixture into the container of your ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once churned, Sandy added a few whole strawberries to the bowls for decoration, and Jerry suggests serving some chocolate wafer cookies (if there are any left in the house).
